WE’LL JUST COAST
from No Coast:
No Coast is a screenprinting and fiber arts collective in Pilsen looking for new members. In addition to extensive studio equipment we also have a multi-use space for retail and public events.
Applicants should have experience with or interest in group work, consensus process and collective practice. We have weekly meetings and all volunteer a few days a month to work the store and run public events such as workshops and screenings.
Spaces are available now. Rent is $200-225 and includes utilities and some public supplies. Preference will be given to those who can commit to the space for a minimum of 6 months.
Facilities include cutting, printing and drawing tables, personal storage, drying racks, exposure unit, light box, wash-out room with pressure washer, flat files, kitchenette, washer/dryer, letterpress and sewing machines.

The Critical Fierceness Grant
A project of Chances Dances, the Critical Fierceness Grant offers a unique opportunity for queer artistic expression to Chicago LGBTIQ communities. The grant is available to individuals or groups who identify themselves or their work as queer. Included in the grant is financial support in the amount of $500, an exhibition venue for a finalized project or work-in-progress, as well as ongoing communication and feedback about the project.

Fri 11/14: opening for “The Graphic Imperative: International Posters for Peace, Social Justice and the Environment 1965-2005″. The Graphic Imperative is a select retrospective of forty years of international sociopolitical posters. Themes include dissent, liberation, racism, sexism, human rights, civil rights…The exhibit opens November 14, 2008, from 5:30–7:30 pm and runs through December 19, 2008. Curator Elizabeth Resnick will speak at the opening.
